The former Used Kids record-store employee who founded Anyway Records used to help scout acts — including a then-unknown Nirvana — for High Street club Stache’s.
He once housed the indie rockers of Pavement (which, in 2010, sold out the Lifestyle Communities Pavilion) on his living-room floor. He pitched central Ohio musicians to national publicists, which led to some Anyway artists receiving coverage in Entertainment Weekly and Spin.
“This is pre-Internet, obviously,” said Bela Koe-Krompecher, 44. “The underground music scene in America was pretty insular.
“It was really easy just to call people up and say: ‘Hey, I’m putting out a record. Do you want to buy some?’”
Relive those days of yore at 20th anniversary shows at Ace of Cups tonight and tomorrow, and learn more about Anyway Records’ history at Dispatch.com.

Come on, guys. The Dispatch is covering this set of shows. YOU SHOULD BE THERE.

Anyway Weekend

And annoying emotional drama of my own making. Additionally, Benedict Cumberbatch. But he is neither here nor there. I’m mean, he’s there, because he isn’t here. You’d know if he was here. My high-pitched squeals of delight would be your first clue.
